I would like to congratulate the year 11 cohort for their performance in this year’s GCSE examinations. As you know the exam system has undergone significant change and despite these changes Hawkley students gained 64% in the ‘Basics’ measure (4+ in both English & maths). Based on strong performance across all subjects it is likely that the school is going to achieve a similar Progress 8 score to 2017.
There have been many exceptional performances and much to be pleased about. Special mention should be given to the 23 students who have achieved 5 or more grades 7 or better, a remarkable achievement that clearly reflects a real dedication to learning.
I am delighted for our students. They have worked very hard and demonstrated a great deal of commitment and resilience. This combined with the professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm demonstrated by our teaching and support staff has ensured that our students have achieved results to be proud of. Finally, I would like to thank our parents and governors for their support enabling our students to fulfil their ambitions.
Mr P Rimmer
