Letter to Year 11 Parents
Awarding of GCSE grades - latest news
Ofqual (the exam board regulator) have today released further information with regards to how GCSE grades will be awarded this year in conjunction with the exam boards.
Schools will be asked to send the following two pieces of information for each of your child's subjects.
- the grade that your child's subject teacher/department believe that they were most likely to achieve if teaching, learning and exams had taken place in May and June 2020
- a ranked order of students for each grade in each subject area.
Please follow the link below to read the full letter by Ofqual to parents and students. This letter will also be posted on our website.
I appreciate how unsettling these past two weeks have been for your child and the rest of your family, so I would to thank you for your support and patience during the enforced school closure. No work that your child produces now can be used as evidence to support the awarding of your child's grade. However, rest assured as teachers we have been gathering a range evidence of your child's progress over the past two years to confidently assess your child.
This grade remains confidential between the school and the examination board as then a calculated grade will be awarded for every student in every subject nationally based on statistical modelling and a standardisation across all the exam boards.
No work will be set over the Easter period for your child and we will reassess and re evaluate our provision after Easter as it the government's intention to allow students the opportunity to sit examinations either later in the year or in 2021.
